How to Search the Mount Ayr Court Docket
Skip the hunt for a Mount Ayr municipal portal. Indiana's court directory and Odyssey list include none. Go straight to Indiana MyCase and pull up the county case. An exact case number works best. Newton County identifiers begin with 56C01 for Circuit Court or 56D01 for Superior Court. Those prefixes tell you more than the Mount Ayr name ever will.
No case number handy? Choose the Name search instead. Type the last name, add the first, and pick Newton Circuit Court or Newton Superior Court. If the assignment is unclear, run both. Advanced filters let you narrow the Mount Ayr court docket by category, open or closed status, and filing-date range. A business goes in the business-name field, not the personal ones.
- Copy the case or citation number from the newest court paper.
- Search MyCase by the full number and verify the court prefix.
- When the number is unknown, search a party name and limit the court to Newton County.
- Open the case summary and check the latest event, status, and setting.
- Use Court Calendar or ePay for the narrower date or ticket task.
- Call the clerk when the Mount Ayr record is missing, old, restricted, or incomplete.
Mount Ayr Court Records in a Small Town
Mount Ayr counted just 117 residents in the 2020 Census, the smallest of Newton County's five incorporated towns. That scale shapes how services are arranged. The town runs its own government channel, while the courts sit at the county level. Small population, though, does not mean small accountability. What happens in Mount Ayr can still land in a court record.
A traffic case from Mount Ayr may land in Superior Court. Other matters fall to Circuit Court under its local allocation. Either way, the record carries the county court's name and prefix, even though the event began inside Mount Ayr.
The Mount Ayr Municipal Court Question
No municipal court, judge, court clerk, Odyssey node, hearing calendar, or ticket-pay site is listed for Mount Ayr. The town clerk is not the Newton County Clerk of the Circuit Court. That distinction trips up a lot of people. Town Hall handles Mount Ayr ordinances and town administration. But official court sources do not treat it as the home of a Mount Ayr court docket.
One county clerk serves both Newton Circuit Court and Newton Superior Court. Traffic goes to Superior Court. Juvenile, protective-order, domestic-relations, adoption, reciprocal-support, collection, eviction, and small-claims matters generally sit with Circuit Court. That split comes under the cited local rules. Search by case type in the county system. There is no separate local tier to hunt for.
Mount Ayr Government Building and Court Records
The official Town of Mount Ayr site is the source for local government material. Its public image and contact pages cover town administration only.

The Mt. Ayr Government Building sits at 101 E. Rensselaer Street, Mt. Ayr, IN 47964, with 219-394-2460 listed in the state directory. Ask that office about an ordinance text or a town administrative notice. Court business is different. For anything filed in court, a setting, a copy, or a certified Mount Ayr court record, go through Newton County's channels. The clerk and the courts hold those records.
Mount Ayr Court Dates and Settings
Begin with the settings block in MyCase, newest event first. Then open the Indiana Court Calendar. Pick Newton County. Choose Newton Superior Court when relevant. Enter the date, and add a case number or name if that helps. The calendar covers the prior seven days and the next four weeks. That rolling window is not the full Mount Ayr court docket.
| Date | The scheduled date shown in the current result or latest court order. |
|---|---|
| Time | The start and end time or timeslot supplied by the calendar. |
| Location | The listed hearing location, generally tied to the county court in Kentland. |
| Judge | The judge array or court assignment shown for the setting. |
| Setting type | Initial Hearing, Hearing, Discovery Conference, or another case-specific label. |
The public calendar's current Newton selector shows Superior Court, not any Mount Ayr court. If a Circuit Court setting is missing or falls outside the date window, call Circuit Court at 219-474-5131 or the Clerk at 219-474-6081. Superior Court itself answers at 219-474-5569.
Mount Ayr Hours Are Not Court Hours
The Mount Ayr government page lists the Town Clerk and the government building.

The town's published window is Monday and Thursday, 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Those are not hearing hours for Newton Circuit or Superior Court. Call 219-394-2460 before counting on the town window. A Mount Ayr court date belongs to the case record and the county court that set it. Town Hall cannot reset a hearing or file anything with the court.
Mount Ayr Traffic Tickets
Every Newton County traffic matter goes to Newton Superior Court under LR-56-15. Pay a Mount Ayr ticket through Indiana ePay. It searches by ticket or UTT number. It also searches by driver's license number, or first and last name plus date of birth. A middle initial is optional on the name route. The exact UTT number is your strongest starting key.
The portal displays the ticket date, number, police agency, court, case number, offenses, and balance. It also warns that not every ticket is online or eligible for payment. No Mount Ayr result? Check the date. Then try another search path, use MyCase, then call Superior Court or the Clerk. For the full county process, see the Newton County traffic court records.
Mount Ayr Citation Cause Numbers
Newton County asks drivers to wait one week after a citation is issued. Only then should you look for a cause number. Processing takes that long. Once the week passes, contact the Clerk with the name or citation number. Every Mount Ayr traffic case carries a prefix of 56D01. That prefix marks it as a Newton Superior Court matter. Jot down the cause number and the ticket number. Note the court date too, before you do anything else.
UTT number: The ticket identifier used by ePay, with examples such as J0000000.
56D01: Newton Superior Court's prefix and the expected start of a traffic cause number.
CCS: The chronological case summary that lists dated case events.
Don't count on a Mount Ayr address appearing as a search filter. The court prefix plus the exact number tie the ticket to its judicial record far better.
Where Mount Ayr Cases End Up
Mount Ayr has no municipal court tier. Nothing in the official court map shows one. A case that starts in Mount Ayr lands in the Newton County trial court chosen by case type. The Newton County Clerk keeps the court files. The clerk also maintains public chronological case summaries for anyone who wants them. The statewide MyCase portal pulls from the court case-management system, but the clerk remains the source for official and certified records.
Docket flow: Mount Ayr incident or dispute › Newton County Clerk › Newton Circuit Court or Newton Superior Court
Under the local allocation, Newton Superior Court takes every traffic matter. Most adult criminal cases land there as well. Circuit Court covers its listed civil, family, juvenile, protective-order, collection, eviction, and small-claims work. Unsure of the type? Search both county courts. The Newton County court docket lays out the county-wide court map.
Mount Ayr Traffic Deferral Timeline
The county's infraction deferral runs through the Newton County Prosecutor process. It does not run through any Mount Ayr court. The program costs $192.50 in person or $202.50 online. The online figure includes the $10 card processing fee. One warning from the county: finish the form and the deferral payment first. Do not pay the ticket before both are done.
Certain people cannot join. CDL endorsement holders are out. So is anyone who used the program in the prior 12 months. Anyone with two or more tickets from the same stop is excluded, along with anyone charged with listed serious offenses. That list is partial. A participant who completes six months with no new traffic citation and no class gets the charge dismissed. A violation instead reinstates it. Call the Prosecutor at 219-474-5777 about eligibility. The Mount Ayr town clerk cannot interpret the program for you.
Public Access to Mount Ayr Court Records
Indiana Access Rule 4 presumes court records are open to the public, subject to exclusions. Access Rule 5 shields specified cases, documents, and data. So a Mount Ayr result may omit or redact Social Security numbers, account data, passwords, some juvenile material, witness contact details, dates of birth, and medical information. Keep this in mind. A missing name or document never proves that no case event exists.
Key Rules:
Indiana Access Rule 4 states the general public-access presumption.
Indiana Access Rule 5 defines confidential court records and protected data.
Indiana Access Rule 9 supplies a verified court-request process for excluded records.
MyCase is free for ordinary public cases, but it is not the official record. When completeness or authentication matters, ask the Newton County Clerk for inspection, a plain copy, or a certified Mount Ayr case document. Mail requests go to PO Box 49, Kentland, IN 47951.
Mount Ayr Court Record Fallbacks
Call the Clerk at 219-474-6081 whenever a Mount Ayr record is old, missing online, not linked as a document, or needed in certified form. The public counter sits at 201 N. Third Street in Kentland. Bring or send the case number, court, exact document title and date, copy type, return address, and phone. Ask about cost and payment before you mail anything.
Want a transcript? Ask for the court reporter, since the CCS does not hold the spoken record. For a current Superior setting, call 219-474-5569. For a Circuit setting, call 219-474-5131. Those county contacts form the court-record chain. The Mount Ayr town office can still help with town ordinances and administration, though it cannot replace the court custodian.
Reading a Mount Ayr Court Docket
Once a result opens, verify the basics. Check the case number, court, filing date, case type, status, and status date. Then read the event list from oldest to newest. A Mount Ayr case summary may show filings, notices, hearing settings, motions, orders, and a disposition. Public document links can sit beside some events. Yet an event without a link can still be a real filing kept by the Clerk.
Indiana names the event history a chronological case summary. A "Converted Event" means older information was migrated into the Odyssey system. It does not mean the event occurred on the conversion date. A broad status such as "Decided" also cannot replace the final order or disposition entry. In a Mount Ayr case with several settings, trust the newest dated order. Trust direct court confirmation above all.
PT: Final Pretrial Conference, as observed in a Newton setting.
JT: Jury Trial in the inspected county calendar data.
HR: A hearing setting.
PS: Proceedings Supplemental Hearing, usually tied to post-judgment enforcement.
These labels describe observed Newton County entries, not a complete list for every case. When a Mount Ayr docket term is unclear, quote the exact entry to the clerk. Court staff can work with that far better than a general question about what happened in the case.
